I have been going in circles on Question 2. Most "question analysis", from Admissionado to Stacy Blackman, seem to work well if you are a candidate aiming to further progress in your current role, not so much for Career Changers.

I am curious what strategies are others using or if anyone has ideas.
If you bear with me - here's my dilemma.

Questions:
2a) What about your professional experiences has led you to determine that business school is the right next step? (150 words)
2b) As you have researched MBA programs, what actions have you taken to learn more about Ross and what has led you to believe that Ross is the right MBA program for you? (150 words)
2c) What career do you plan to pursue after business school and why? (150 words)

My Strategy:
To answer 2a)
Extrapolate current skills/experiences that I enjoy(currently in technology).... link to.... Where I wish to take my career(product management).
Business school fits that gap in between.

To answer 2c)
Talk about my career plan; add specific short term steps and another 30 words for long term.
I will be wasting few words covering what I already covered in 2a (where I wanna be).

Problem:
2a doesn't leave me room to introduce an accomplishment, 2c is not the right place for it.

Well, maybe the first thing to do is to take a step back and ask a question about your question. Meaning does your career change plan make sense? What is it? WHY do you want to make this change? The thing is that it's gotta pass muster before you figure out how to go about it. There are plenty of career changes that are acts of strategy and passion, and plenty of career change ideas that are terrible (the most common terrible one - going from IT to Finance, it's possible, but all it tells us is that the candidate wants to make more money, but doesn't yet have the necessary skills or talent…).

Sooooooo IF you are gonna discuss a change, your number one priority is to make that change MAKE SENSE! Cause if it doesn't your application is going in the bin…

:)

Hope this helps,

I agree with Jon and assuming that all is included in your application, then I think you should include the achievement but I think it makes more sense in 2C to be honest. You could tie it in by saying that particular experience highlighted what you enjoyed and you have found, through whatever research methods you're using, that product management is really where you'd like to be.

How you include it in 2C will be important to make sure it all ties together but it also reduces redundancy and gives you a few words back to your count.
