Hi all,
After scouring these types of forums for a while, I've found some good info but was hoping to get some questions answered more directly from current or aspiring impact investors.
Some background on myself and what I'm trying to do - I went to a state school close to home for undergrad and majored in accounting and finance (4.0 GPA) and passed the CPA shortly thereafter. I then got a job at E&Y's financial services advisory office, and quickly shifted to an asset manager (CLO issuer), which is where I currently hold my associate title. I've also started a biotech company on the side and we're developing a simulator for dialysis cannulation (which is going very well!). Took the GMAT back in my undergrad days with the intention of doing a masters in accounting program (thankfully I decided against that, but scored a 690 - V40, Q45) and recently retook it in order to boost my score a bit and refresh my expiration date (710 - V40, Q48). I'm looking to apply to Kellogg & Booth only this year since my fiance is currently doing her masters in social work at uChicago and we have no intention of doing long-distance, especially the year of our wedding

.
A few questions I have for anyone who can answer them:
-How difficult is the impact investing market out of b-school without PE/ibanking experience? I tried directly trying to get impact investing jobs, but found it was very difficult without these qualifications, hence the MBA.
-How much should I/are you all planning on emphasizing your interest in impact investing/social entrepreneurship in your application? I personally plan on emphasizing quite a bit, since according to this MBA data guru post:
https://www.mbadataguru.com/blog/admissi ... entration/. Is anyone able to verify that my application might get a bump for my interest in these areas?
-Is Booth worth looking at for social entrepreneurship/impact investing? I mean I know it's Booth and I'd be incredibly lucky to go there, but it seems to me that they don't emphasize this area nearly as much as Kellogg does.
-Lastly, (I'm sorry, I have to), any tips for me personally? After reading so many articles about rising GMAT scores, applying with a 710 seems to be crazy talk these days.
Thanks for any help in advance.
