Hi,
A bit of background:
I plan to apply for my MBA next year in the first round, i.e., September 2017
My targets are Wharton, London Business School, MIT-Sloan and Booth; I intend to pursue a degree in finance.
I have about 2.5 years of work-ex, and a GMAT score of 760.
I work in a firm that provides analytics based solution to other companies, and my clients include a Fortune 500 asset management firm as well as a big four bank from Australia. I've also been promoted twice.
The flip side, I'm not from a feeder company, nor have any volunteer experience. Also, I'm 26, and wondering if delaying my application for another year will put me in an age bracket which the top schools don't look kindly at.
My question is: should I target a switch to a feeder company or focus on volunteer work ?
(The assumption, of course, is that I can't do both; shifting to a bigger company may not leave much time for volunteer work.)

I'd recommend that you put your attention on the volunteer work, and would be best if it's something that connects the dots to previous activities, so it doesn't look like a phony last-ditch attempt to Pander to the adcom.
I would let go of the whole feeder company thing. Then you would be in a position where you have to reestablish yourself in a matter of months.
Unless there's a serious problem with your supervisor, I would just ride it out and make sure that you lay the groundwork for a great recommendation.
With the volunteer stuff lay the foundation for a great recommendation from them to, that speaks to leadership, teamwork problem-solving and innovation. Because you're in more of a quantitative oriented role, I would like one or both letters to speak to your soft skills and mentorship effectiveness.
I've gotten tons of people in to Booth from No Name companies.
The first ten entries on my blog are geared towards someone like yourself who is preparing for round one.
Recommend you check them out.

I agree with the above your impact at your current firm is more important than the name. Feeder programs help and do matter but the person who made it into that feeder program is way more important. Having no ECs or past engagement is a red flag, your work experience right now is not so I would focus on correcting that
