Let me get this chat going and ask a question (and answer it )

The question is, I am still working on my GMAT. Should I rush and apply in R1 or wait and apply in R2?

In theory, R1 is always better. The chances are slightly higher for both acceptance and scholarships and even if they were the same, you want to know the answers by November, in case you need to apply to some backup options as well.

BUT R2 with a better application (CV, essays, recommendation etc.) or 20+ points in the GMAT ALWAYS beats R1
So only apply when you are ready!

and for the ambitious readers out there, here are some MBA myths. lets see if you can guess which one is actually ture?
Let me start with some MBA myths… can you guess which one of these is actually true?
1. You can’t get into an M7 MBA program without a 750 GMAT
2. If you are older than 30 you can’t get into a top MBA program
3. If you are looking for a high post-MBA salary you have to go to Harvard
4. The GMAT is 90% of the application
5. If I don’t volunteer I won’t get into Yale
6. INSEAD requires international work experience
7. Shimri from ARINGO drinks 6 cups of coffee a day

Hi, thank you for hosting this session! What are the different ways one can interact with schools? And what you recommend as the best way to get started
The first question is why are you looking to interact with the school? is it to learn more about the program for you to decide if to apply to there? or you have decided and now you want to mention this interaction in the application?
different reasons, different interactions...

you can always start with the school website
then join webinars or fairs (like MBA Spotlight on GMATclub)
Then, if you want to actually speak to students or alumni you can use club reps or Linkedin

GOOD LUCK!

Hi, that is an interesting question which is followed by my question, who cares :)
Let me explain - employers rarely will ask about your MBA GPA or class ranking. so why is this important to you?

BUT to answer your questions seriously. there are exams with scores, and you will have a final GPA

May be I can ask another question -
While I understand that 30+ people can still land top colleges, but to what extent does the age factor (32 next year in my case) set you back for: (I) admissions (2) getting a post-MBA job

GREAT question (you can watch my video MBA over 30 here: https://youtu.be/DFVqE7WMinM )
the age is not a factor. but the number of years of experience is.
= more than 10 years of experience is an range flag in most full time "regular" MBAs. more than 12y is usually a no no.
I am assuming you are not there yet, so you are ok with regular program admissions (although, if you have more than 8y you can look at special programs for senior applicants (again, check out my video)

This goes for both admissions and recruitment
you wont find an issue with your age. but if you are over experienced that might be an issue

saved by the bell :)
I think you have 12 years of experience. no way you can say 6...
you also dont want a gap on your CV..
how can you apply to top two year programs? you probably wont get in. so I suggest you revisit your plan or shop off some years somehow , or apply to lower ranked programs (I had a 45y old get into a top 50 2-year program this year)

MBA applicants usually have 2-10 years of experience. the average is 4-6. that is ideal for acceptance and scholarship

if you work on the application and submit within the deadline, that is fine!
