Hi KshitijMehta0312. Few q's before sharing some feedback:

1. What was the split (Q/V) of your GMAT?
2. Pls elaborate on your work ex and internships i.e. the companies, roles? A brief would do.
3. Since you've indicated MiM, MSc, MMS - which are very different programs, your goals don't seem clear. What is your goal post the Masters i.e. which sector/ function do you want to transition to?

1) Q50 V32
2) o9 solutions functional consultant. Full time
Teaching assistant career launcher - 2 months
Software engineer internship 2 month
Business and data analyst - 6 months
3) startegy consultant

KshitijMehta0312,

1. The GMAT score is a bit on the lower side, particularly for the schools like LBS, INSEAD given the Indian Male/ Engineer perspective. Would suggest a retake if possible. While profiles are evaluated holistically beyond the score, targeting 10-20 points above the average of your target school can help.

2. While all schools in your list are good for consulting careers, would suggest narrowing down on the program choices. MiM/ Masters programs typically admit candidates with 0-2 years experience (at time of joining). MiM gives you a broader landscape of courses, while MsC is more focused on a specific topic. Career paths follow a similar logic. Try to gather more insights about your target programs through research and alum/ AdCom conversations. Since recommending schools requires more data points (including your personal preferences) than this initial assessment, I would refrain from suggesting a short-list of programs at this point.

3. Your professional arc, with good introspection on the transferrable skills to your post MiM goals can help in identifying your target firms and help in answering: why MiM, why consulting, post-MiM goals, etc.

4. ECs are good. Introspecting on your lessons/ skills from these ECs and how they can help in/ after your MiM can help craft impactful essays.

Hope this helps a bit. Feel free to reach out for a deeper chat.

Regards,
Arvind

If a Masters in Management degree fits well into your career plan, you should go for it.
The structure of the typical MiM program is very similar to that of a typical MBA program and provides students with a general knowledge in management, making it easier and faster for graduates of the programs to find a management job right after graduation.

You mentioned some good programs, but you can also consider HEC Paris and St. Gallen in Europe, and Emory and USC in the US.

Hi,

I am just looking for top 5-10 b schools. And also only in English speaking countries. That's why not applying to other colleges.

Hello KshitijMehta0312,

Considering you belong to an over-represented pool of applicants, we would recommend that you retake the GMAT and apply with an improved test score; the first four schools on your list are highly GMAT sensitive; of course, the GMAT is one aspect of your application; please also ensure you put forth a compelling application that mentions your intent for a Master's degree as well as links your profile up logically with your proposed career goals.

All the best!

KshitijMehta0312:

We overall agree with the above comments.

You are definitely right to apply this year as another year of work experience could make you too "experienced" for these programs, which tend to take people out of undergrad or 1 year post.

Your GMAT score and demographic cohort are putting a lot of pressure on the rest of your application, which is good but not outstanding. Schools like LBS, Duke, and Michigan are unlikely to "dip down" with such a profile.

A retake of the GMAT (with 20+ more points) would go a long way. If that's not an option, you should consider other programs that would still advance your career and education but be more attainable.
