My question is how will business schools or grad programs evaluate the test score? Most schools have not updated their averages. So let's say student A took the Shorter GRE and scored a 163 quant. Student B took the long version of the GRE and scored a 163 quant. Will business schools evaluate the scores evenly? How will that impact the score weight the schools are using?

The programs will either benchmark those students who took each version separately or have a conversion in mind to make it as close to apples to apples.
I would not worry if I were you. It's not something you can control. The only matter is if you haven't taken the exam yet or need to take the exam again to improve your score.

There is always a conversion method that Adcoms has to evaluate the difference between the two scores.
