I am a CS grad from IIT Delhi. I scored a GMAT FE score of 735.
I wanted to pursue MBA in the US. But having low work experience(1 year) has reduced my chances for the same.

I do not want to pursue MS in CS/ Data Science,..

I am good at math, should I look into MFE?

In the end, I wish to start my own company/ be a CEO.

I am considering MiM(MSMS, MS&E included) in the US. I want to kickstart my career in the US soon. I know that MiM is no replacement to an MBA.

I got told by a few people that I shouldn’t leave tech as I have good potential in the field, but working for a year made me realise that I don’t want to code all my life.

Vaguely speaking, I’m interested in looking at data and strategising around it and be a part of decision making.

Please give me any piece of advice you have,
I am a noob as of now. I’m still figuring out what to do, I have no clue what I wanna pursue, I feel like I’m late in doing all this research. But better late than never. I want to explore all my options and not take any decision hastily. Should I be considering some other program?

Long term goal would be a CEO, probably start my own company.

But focusing on my immediate next step, I’m scared to disconnect completely from tech. I was advised that MiM is good for BBA grads and that I shouldn’t shift from Tech for now and just pursue MBA after a few years.

Given your strong background, a GMAT FE score of 735, and a year of work experience, you have several promising options to consider for advancing your career in the U.S. A MFE could be a suitable choice, as it aligns well with your strong math skills and interest in data and strategy, opening doors to careers in quantitative finance and risk management.

nezuko.25 ­- congrats on the GMAT score!

If you're keen on settling in the US, I would suggest working for some years (to strengthen your overall profile) and then apply for MBA programs. In terms of brand value and alum networks in the US, MBA programs are much stronger than their MiM counterparts.

If you're indeed looking to join school next year, have you also considered MiM programs in Europe/ UK? These tend to be strong in EU/ UK/ Asia regions. MFE is an interesting option as well, but I would like to understand your profile and career goals, etc. deeper to guide better on this.

­Traditionally, an MBA is the more common and the better recognized diploma out of these two, but MiMs are becoming more popular, among applicants and employers alike. The structure of the typical MiM program is very similar to that of a typical MBA program and provides students with a general knowledge in management, making it easier and faster for graduates of the programs to find a management job right after graduation.
Although MiMs are popular among fresh graduates, they are also becoming more popular among mid-career professionals who want to take on management responsibilities in the future or switch to a more management oriented role.
While MiMs are often marketed as degrees where no working experience is necessary, it is definitely a plus to have some work experience at least. Therefore, applicants should always make sure to describe any work experience they have in detail when applying, even if the work experience in question is an internship.
