Please provide more information on your proflle - undergrad, GPA, impact of work, ECA, leadership.

Very broadly, 635 is on the lower side for IESE. For LBS it could work but with a profile that shows a solid track record of impact and leadership - will need more details on that to confirm. Yes, you should retake the GMAT.

Hi Guys,

Recently took the GMAT Focus (83th in Data; 70th in Quant; 83th In Verbal). 635 overall.

I have a good profile with top local Consulting firm experience (3 years), as well as good grades (top 8% in my undergraduate).

I am targeting schools such as LBS/IESE for first round.

Should I retake the gmat?

franrios Keeping it simple, if you come from a crowded pool, the higher the score the better. Otherwise, if you have a good profile that the schools would love, they will look at the split of the sectional scores and make sure you fare on par with others from your demographic pool. For example, Indians tend to have a higher quant average than verbal, therefore the school will see how close you are to the average because the expectation for you is to be analytically sound. For US citizens, this could also mean checking the verbal score against the demographic average because their communication and language command is much stronger, so that is a fair way to evaluate.
Both LBS and IESE will closely check your sectional performance if they are not satisfied with the overall score. Your quant is lower than the verbal, so just see how that positions you for your demographic.
