Are awards and distinctions during college and after, an important factor in admission process ?. I was a good student with good acads but never good enough to be in the top 1% to win any award or honour. So I am just wondering how many people on this board actually have something to put in awards/honours column in the application.

I've got dean's list.... that's about it. Not that special either, just had to average 3.5 for the year.

I graduated with High Honors. High Honors = 3.8GPA or something like that... it's definitely not 1% of the class ;)

I was part of the Conference Honor Roll when I ran track...for one semester, and that's not very impressive. I don't think I even mentioned it in my app. I was also Dean's List for one semester, again, not impressive. So, I don't think I mentioned that in my app. either. But, I did mention any scholarship I received to go to college, along with any elected positions that I participated in.

I mentioned graduating first class with distinction. I know its not a big deal, but thats all I had :)

And Im wondering abt a technical essay writing contest that I won in college. It seems so far back and not relevant, so really not sure I should add it.
