Question

I came across this article today on HBS:

Quite frankly I found it a bit cynical and unfair to assume that everyone attending HBS is just in it for the money. Nevertheless it's perspective

I am almost done with the book and I highly recommend it. It definitely gives a different perspective to the whole process and frankly, makes me very excited to get there. It is unfair to say that the author characterizes all his classmates as driven by money, but there are certainly some who fit the bill. Another great book (if you can find it/find time for it) is "Snapshots from Hell" by Peter Robinson, Stanford MBA class of 1990. Consider it the prequel to the current HBS edition.

If he's not in it to do a business function when he's done, he's clearly in the wrong place. He wants to journalism after b-school? Come on, go somewhere else. Shame on him for wasting people's time and taking a spot from a better-deserved candidate. He's clearly making an excuse for his failures.

That's totally NOT what the book is about. He had no intention of pursuing journalism when he enrolled. It's a quick read... check it out!

Okay, fine. but still, "he found himself falling back on his journalism while ‘waiting to become a titan of business’" and "he’s now setting up a cutting-edge podcast company with a friend."
