This is kind of silly, but I am curious to know,
Are the emails that we receive from universities based on gmat scores auto generated or is it actually being sent by admission office folks?
What do you guys think? And if there's someone from admission dept., could you answer this?

Hi MV23,
Most of the emails that you get from B schools are information or marketing mailers sent as mass emails. Usually, the emails are sent out to stuednts who have an mba.com account or students who have registered for the GMAT exam.
After the GMAT exam, one can send their scores to 5 programs. Sometimes, students gets emails from B schools to which they have sent their GMAT scores. These, too, are automated mass emails.

Hate to break it to you, but all of those are mass emails. Typically schools buy lists from the GMAC. They will target people based on their GMAT score, location, preferences, etc. to try and get you interested in their school. Of course, if you do get an email from them, it could be a nice way to setup some time to talk with someone in the admissions office. Or it could help you think about a school you wouldn't have discovered before.
