Hi,
Can anyone review my profile and let me know if i stand a chance in any of the B school that i am targeting for 2012.
GMAT score (gave on 10th Aug 2011):
Overall: 730
Quant: 51
Verbal: 38
AWA: Awaiting score
Origin: Indian
Work Exp: 3 years (till now)
Industry: Investment Banking
Position: Senior Analyst
Education
Undergrad degree: Computer engineering from Delhi College of engineering with 71% (above average score with highest percentage around 80%)
School: 85% in 10th standard and 83% in 12th standard in CBSE borad
Other courses done: CFA (US) Level 2 cleared and will be appearing for Level 3 in June 2012.
Extra curricular activities: Playing tennis and trying out new adventure sports (no awards won iin these as i do all these for fun an not from the point of competing)
Negative points: Average percentages in high school and college, no international experience
Positive points: Best rated analyst this year among all senior analysts, cleared CFA level 2, engineering degree from one of the top 10 colleges in India
Reason to do MBA and B Schools i am targeting: I want to do MBA from a good B school for finance that can help me in my career progression. I am not looking for a career change at all and want to stay in finance after my MBA. What i am looking for is to get into a private equity firm / hedge fund / leading investment bank which can give me international exposure after my MBA.
I am targeting Stern, Chicago Booth, Columbia, Wharton, HKUST.
Please let me know if do stand a chance in any of these schools and also if i missed any of the good schools for finance that i should be applying at.

Three schools I would add to the list are:
UCB (Haas), UCLA (Anderson), LBS
You might also like to look at the Masters program in Finance at LBS - it would suit your career aspirations closely.
GMAT is pretty strong and will not be an issue. Undergraduate scores are decent. You do not mention if you have any academic awards / accolades.
Professional profile is strong - the CFA L2 definitely helps. The positive rating is an added bonus. I-banking experience is a strong push.
The only issue in your profile could be the quantum of work experience. At around 3 years now (assuming it will be around 4 when you start next year) it seems to be a bit on the lower side. I would wager HKUST should be a good shot, and the other three are a bit iffy primarily due to this reason. Strange as it may sound, Wharton seems to be the best bet among these.
You can take a shot at these schools - a lot will depend on how you craft your story and position yourself. I think you have all the basics in place, though, and getting stronger with more experience now.
Let me know if you are looking for a more specific perspective (PM).

Thanks a lot "GyanOne" for such a quick and detailed reply. I will definitely look at the schools you mentioned. I also considered MS option but ruled it out later after i saw the profiles of people in leading PE / IB firms. More than 90% of them were MBA and very few did MS. So that was one of the main reason i ruled i MS and is planning to go for MBA.
As far as work exp. is concerned, i agree, that 4 yrs is not much and usually the average work exp. in the schools i mentioned is arnd 5-6 yrs but i have seen many cases recently of people having just 3 yrs of work exp. got into some of these schools and that is the thing that made me decide that i might be able to get into these schools also.
What about some of the schools you mentioned? what is the usual work exp. requirement there for someone like me?
I am happily surprised that you mentioned Wharton as my best bet as i was hoping for Stern to be the one. For me getting into Wharton will be a dream come true
