B) it looses the meaning/intent of the original sentence. "particularly one that protected crops in the past" must be present perfect otherwise it gives a feel that the program protected the crops only in past. Have stopped doing it currently.
C) "it" does not clearly refers back to "program" rather it seems to refer "resistence"
D) Awkword sentence structure. Farmers being exceptionally dedicated to a program of pesticides, .... , makes them...... Here if Farmers is the subject then the verb should take the plular form - make otherwise it should be rewritten as "being exceptionally dedicated to a program of pesticides makes farmers ..."

This is photocopy of much dreaded OG12 question, I think question 101. Knewton has expertise in replication. But still a tough one and definitely a 700 level question. 
Out here - farmer's dedication to a program makes him apt to overlook some issues.

2nd it = ? farmer or program.

B. A farmer  who is exceptionally dedicated to a program of pesticides, particularly one that protected crops in the past,  makes overlooking  early indications of pesticide resistance or ignoring them apt if they do arise.
Farmer makes overlooking .... - incorrect - changes the meaning.

C.A farmer who is exceptionally dedicated to a program of pesticides is apt to overlook or ignore early indications of pesticide resistance if they do arise,  particularly if it has protected crops in the past .
"particularly if it has protected crops in the past" modifies the program so it needs to be as close to the program as possible.

Hey guys,

I'm struggling to understand why E is correct because of the following:

E.Being exceptionally dedicated to a program of pesticides, particularly one that has protected crops in the past,  is apt  to make a farmer overlook early indications of pesticide resistance or ignore them if they do arise.

Wouldn't one say either:

a) X  makes  you apt or
b) he/she  is  apt

Option says "Being dedicated to X is apt". This sounds wrong to me (I'm non-native though, this is why I'm looking for your help here) as I would say "Being dedicated to X makes you apt".

Please enlighten me. Happy to share a kudos for that.

since you have asked about E , i'll restrict myself to E..
Although 'being' is generally avoided in GMAT, let me tell you why it can be correct here..
E says..
E.Being exceptionally dedicated to a program of pesticides, particularly one that has protected crops in the past,  is apt  to make a farmer overlook early indications of pesticide resistance or ignore them if they do arise.

the phrase  Being exceptionally dedicated to a program of pesticides  could work on two ways..
1) As a modifier..
more than often I would expect it to be used as a modifier..
in that sense, the second clause should begin with what is being modified ' a farmer'..
 But this is not th ecase here

2) THe entire phrase as one..
This is exactly how it is being used here..
"Being exceptionally dedicated to a program of pesticides" is describing a quality required for ...
so  Being exceptionally dedicated to a program of pesticides is apt to make  ...

I arrived at E using below method.
2/3 rule - B & D eliminated
A farmer who ....- speaks of a selective case - Eliminated C
Betwwen A & E, it is tempting to choose A as many experts say "being" is mostly incorrect in Gmat, and E emphasis more on the pesticides that protected crops. Hence, choose E. Turns out its correct.
