Option A has a meaning problem. The end result cannot be at the beginning - Consider the following:
End result at the beginning was exactly the same as the end result...... this does not make any sense.
End result intended at the beginning was exactly the same as the end result..... this conveys the correct meaning.
Hence C is correct.
