A. Amazon is the best known of them - SV issue - Amazon shouldn't follow 'revolution' (word before modifier phrase)
B. the best known is Amazonyes - 'the best known' descriptor preceding noun Amazon
C. the better known of those was AmazonWrong usage of 'better known'
D. Amazon is better knownSV issue, wrong
E. the best known one is Amazon 'known one' too colloquial, I felt.

Hi, isint Amazon modifying the phrase "of the companies"; or the option A is wrong because of "known of them"

'Of the companies which brought e-commerce revolution' modifies the company/companies, not amazon. Had it been 'one of the companies', it would have been amazon. Bacause it specifically talks about a particular company.

Of the companies which brought about the e-commerce revolution; the online revolution that grew out of people's desire for a more convenient shopping experience, Amazon is the best known of them.

For starters, the question should have a comma and not a semi colon following "revolution". However, since this is in the non-underlined portion, let us assume that there is a comma and evaluate the answer options:

A. Amazon is the best known of them The universe of companies is already established by stating "Of the companies which brought about the e-commerce revolution", there is no need to state "of them" at the end. Eliminate.

B. the best known is Amazon Correct answer.

C. the better known of those was Amazon Two issues. The usage of "of them" is redundant as in option (A). Also, "better known" is incorrect since we are talking about more than two companies - the correct usage would be the superlative form "best known". Eliminate.

D. Amazon is better known "better known" is incorrect since we are talking about more than two companies - the correct usage would be the superlative form "best known". Eliminate.

E. the best known one is Amazon The usage of "one" is redundant since we are using the superlative form "best known". Eliminate.
