Obviously C. The other options are patently wrong.

The two forms of the word 'concern' - 'concerned' and 'concerning' - have entirely different meanings. The former means 'worried' and the latter 'relating to'. It is obvious that, in the present context, 'concerned' is the right word since this sentence essentially means that conservative Christians are worried about social issues including abortion so they extended support to Republicans.
Furthermore, the word 'about' is used after 'concerned', not 'on' so D is not correct. The correct option is C.

The right answer is option C. The use of concerned about is correct as the right preposition to show the connection between what conservative Christians have concern for, in this case, social issues.

We can eliminate A and B because concerning does not require any preposition in this contest to in order to modify what conservative Christians have concerns for.

We can eliminate D because the use of the preposition on is not appropriate in this context. about is right preposition required here.

E can also be eliminated because it omits a preposition between concerned and social issues. A preposition is required in order to show the connection between the concern that conservative Christians have for social issues.

Concerned about is the correct idiom.

The question beautifully asks the student to difference between verb-ed and verb-ing modifier, and both modify the noun Christians.

Here verbing takes the verb of the sentence and hence, the meaning as such is that Christians were concerning at the very moment republicans benefitted.

Dump A and choose C for this reason.

C. concerned about social issues, including abortion - CORRECT. Christians is correctly modified by 'concerned about social issues'.
D. concerned on social issues, including abortion - WRONG. Verb - ed correctly modifies Christians but problem with usage of 'on'.
E. concerned social issues, including abortion - WRONG. Not making much sense.

IMO Answer (C).

I think that the answer is C.
A) and B) are out. Because ‘concerning’ could be a verb or a preposition here.

In D) and E, ‘concerned’ is a verb. Using the verb there does not make any sense.

In C), ‘concerned’ is an adjective, not a verb or preposition.
‘Concerned about...’ is right one and means that ‘worried’.
