I answered the question in about 20 seconds. I will avoid posting my analysis, since I have been asked before to wait for the reveal of the OA. The question reminds me of this old gem from GMAC™.

Happy studies, everyone.

Experiments showed that a package weighing 50 pounds, dropped from a height of 48 inches, would be landing, intact, only about 80 percent of the time.

A. be landing, intact,
- this introduces a funny meaning ambiguity: The word ''intact'' is an adjective, so What (A) essentially says is that ''Experiments showed that a package.....would be landing,.., only about 80% of the time''. If the package ''lands'' for only 80% of the time, then where does it go for the remaining 20%?
B. land as intact - (B) implies the package takes the form of ''intact'' when it lands on the ground. this implication does not make any sense.
C. be landing, intactly,
- has the same error as described in (A).
D. land, intactly, - has the same error as described in (A).
E. land intact - has no error. Hence, (E) is the right answer choice.
