A. for tomorrow, will take place only next week because the surgeon, as well as three operation room nurses, are
"... because the surgeon... are sick." Surgeon is singular, while 'are' is plural. Incorrect.

B. for tomorrow, will take place only next week because the surgeon, as well as three operation room nurses, is
Singular 'surgeon' + plural 'nurses' followed by the singular 'is' doesn't work. Incorrect.

C. for tomorrow, will take place only next week because the surgeon and three operation room nurses is
'is' is singular and needs to be plural in this case.

D. for tomorrow, will take place only next week since the surgeon and three operation room nurses are
Correct use of 'are' as a plural for the combined 'surgeon and three operation room nurses' Correct

E. to tomorrow, will only take place next week because the surgeon, as well as three operation room nurses, are
Immediately can be ruled out because of the use of 'to' instead of 'for' Incorrect.

Answer D

John's hernia surgery, scheduled for tomorrow, will take place only next week because the surgeon, as well as three operation room nurses, are sick.

A. for tomorrow, will take place only next week because the surgeon, as well as three operation room nurses, are

B. for tomorrow, will take place only next week because the surgeon, as well as three operation room nurses, is

C. for tomorrow, will take place only next week because the surgeon and three operation room nurses is

D. for tomorrow, will take place only next week since the surgeon and three operation room nurses are

E. to tomorrow, will only take place next week because the surgeon, as well as three operation room nurses, are

This is a Subject-Verb agreement mistake.
Use of 'as well as', with the singular subject 'The Surgeon', will satisfy with the use of the verb 'is'. Hence Option B should be correct
Also, the use of 'and' and 'are' in option D, makes it sound correct.

Narrowing down to Options B and D.

Waiting for the Official Answer.

I will go for A because "because" is used to give reason and not the word since.

I think subject verb pair is in agreement in Option A also because it should be plural. The three nurses is plural. In the usage of as well as the verb should be in agreement with immediately proceeding subject
