Many people, when asked, said they voted in the last election when in fact they did not. It cannot, however,
be concluded that these people, thinking that not voting is socially unacceptable, consciously lied. They might
simply remember voting in most past elections and so mistakenly report that they voted in the last election.

Conclusion: People in sample did not lie.
Premise1: its just they did not remember the exact date of the last election.
Premise2: They believe that voting is social responsibility.

Pre-think: Yes! people did not lie, its just they are not well informed of the exact date of last election.

voting habits. - Its a generic statement regarding the most people, in that these people also included. We don't know the share of people in question to the whole. This may be 10% or 90%.

B. When the exact date of the last election was specified, far fewer people who did not vote in that election
claimed that they did. - this is weakener. far fewer people claimed.

C. Many of those who falsely report that they voted in the last election believe that people should vote in every
election for which they are eligible. - Those who falsely reported have a strong belief on voting system and its just they did not remember the exact date of the election. As per their belief whenever election happens people should vote.

D. The percentage of people who falsely report that they voted in the last election is the same if they are asked
a few days after the election or several weeks after the election. - Out of scope, this is telling about the genuineness of survey data.

Answer is B.

If far fewer people claimed, than it means that they did not knew there were an election. So it strenghten the conclusion.

Remember: They might simply remember voting in most past elections and so mistakenly report that they voted in the last election.

The answer should be B.
According to the argument's conclusion, people do not consciously lie rather they mistake the past election to be the one in which they last voted. To prove that people are actually not lying all we need to do is specify which election we are talking about. If on stating the exact date of the election, people actually state the truth, then the people were not intentionally lying in the first place. This is precisely what the conclusion is trying to say and thus B stands as a strengthener.
