There are two kinds of horror stories: those that describe a mad scientist’s experiments and those that describe a monstrous beast. In some horror stories about monstrous beasts, the monster symbolizes a psychological disturbance in the protagonist. Horror stories about mad scientists, on the other hand, typically express the author’s feeling that scientific knowledge alone is not enough to guide human endeavor. However, despite these differences, both kinds of horror stories share two features: they describe violations of the laws of nature and they are intended to produce dread in the reader.

If the statements above are true, which one of the following would also have to be true?

(A) All descriptions of monstrous beasts describe violations of the laws of nature.
(B) Any story that describes a violation of a law of nature is intended to invoke dread in the reader.
(C) Horror stories of any kind usually describe characters who are psychologically disturbed.
(D) Most stories about mad scientists express the author’s antiscientific views.
(E) Some stories that employ symbolism describe violations of the laws of nature.

IMO D

1st: Two types of horror stories those that describe a mad scientist’s experiments and those that describe a monstrous beast.
2nd: In some horror stories about monstrous beasts, the monster symbolizes a psychological disturbance in the protagonist. Horror stories about mad scientists, on the other hand, typically express the author’s feeling that scientific knowledge alone is not enough to guide human endeavour.
Conc: Both kinds of horror stories share two features: they describe violations of the laws of nature and they are intended to produce dread in the reader

(A) All descriptions of monstrous beasts describe violations of the laws of nature. already mentioned in stem
(B) Any story that describes a violation of a law of nature is intended to invoke dread in the reader.seems good: hold it
(C) Horror stories of any kind usually describe characters who are psychologically disturbed.not along the lines with the stem as some are about monstrous beast
(D) Most stories about mad scientists express the author’s antiscientific views.author is not anti-scientific he is just saying only scientific knowledge is not required
(E) Some stories that employ symbolism describe violations of the laws of nature.not along with stem moreover talking about only some stories
B seems to be the most appropriate answer as per the information provided

dont u think option is B extreme to be true. however the option in passage is about some horror stories

With that logic, in E, symbolism is nothing but horror stories about monstrous beasts and we are discussing about a trait which relates to them.

(C) Horror stories of any kind usually describe characters who are psychologically disturbed. Not true for horror stories about mad scientists
(D) Most stories about mad scientists express the author’s antiscientific views.Saying - scientific knowledge alone is not enough to guide human endeavor is not the same as having antiscientific views
(E) Some stories that employ symbolism describe violations of the laws of nature. Here it is referring to horror stories about monstrous beasts and they all describe violations of the laws of nature.
