If the statements above are true, which one of the following must also be true?

(A) Some cats that have a high muscle-to-fat ratio are not good hunters.
(B) A smaller number of domestic cats than wild cats have a high muscle-to-fat ratio.
(C) All cats that are bad hunters have a low muscle-to-fat ratio.
(D) Some cats that have a high muscle-to-fat ratio are domestic.
(E) All cats that have a high muscle-to-fat ratio can kill prey that weigh up to half their body weight.

Can someone explain why isn't E correct ? I marked D as it looked better but i wasn't thoroughly convinced that E is incorrect.


All good hunters have high m/f ratio.But every cat which has high m/f ratio necessarily need not a good hunter.So every cat which has high m/f ratio can't kill prey that weigh up to half their body weight.
Feel free to comment if it is still not clear.:)


why is A wrong? Because You have explained the same thing which is given in option A. Can you please help me understand why is option A wrong! :)

Per the argument we don't know with 100% surety whether cats with a high muscle-to-fat ratio are all good hunters or not. hence, because of this double possibility, incorrect

They might have an average muscle-to-fat ratio.... out

We don't know whether all cats with a high muscle-to-fat ratio are good hunters or not. We just know that all good hunters have a high muscle-to-fat ratio

(A) Some cats that have a high muscle-to-fat ratio are not good hunters. - what (A) does is that it makes the mistake of correlation for causation. High muscle-to-fat ratios cannot be used as a sufficient criteria that can be used to categorize cats as ''good'' or ''bad'' hunters. Moreover, the passage only talks about good hunters in detail. We do not have any information from the passage that we can use to classify any cat as ''not a good hunter''.
(B) A smaller number of domestic cats than wild cats have a high muscle-to-fat ratio. - the passage does not deal with numbers of any kind of cat.
(C) All cats that are bad hunters have a low muscle-to-fat ratio.
- We do not have any information from the passage that we can use to classify any cat as ''not a good hunter''.
(D) Some cats that have a high muscle-to-fat ratio are domestic. - From the passage, we do know that "some domestic cats are good hunters as well." So, we can reasonably infer that these domestic cats (that are good hunters) do have a high muscle-to-fat ratio (Since "All good hunters have a high muscle-to-fat ratio."). Hence, (D) is the right answer choice.
