OFFICIAL EXPLANATION

The paragraph never says either that biblical scholars don't accept evolution (D) or that evolutionary theory negates anything other than the age of the Earth in the Bible (E). It does imply that people understand the world through metanarratives, making choice (C) the best answer.

C is indeed correct, all the other choices are pushing the argument further than what is actually stated making unwarranted assumptions, C can be clearly and unambiguously inferred.

(A) Metanarratives are neither wholly true nor entirely false. The passage does not imply this in any of its statements. Eliminate.

(B) In the modern world, no two metanarratives are alike. The passage does not imply this in any of its statements. Eliminate.

(C) People tend to decipher their world through metanarratives. This is the correct answer. The passage states, "Each of these viewpoints is a metanarrative, a big story that governs people's understanding of the world", clearly indicating that people "decipher" the world through metanarratives.

(D) Biblical scholars do not accept evolutionary theory. The passage does not imply this in any of its statements. Eliminate.

(E) Evolutionary theory negates most of what is written in the Bible. The passage does not imply this in any of its statements. It only states that evolutionary theory negates the age of the earth as given in the Bible - nothing about any other claims of the Bible is stated. Eliminate.

Hope this helps.
