I choose D because it adds the taste part to the nutritional part mentioned in choice A. The trident fish is the tastiest which might be the reason for consumers to pay a higher price. There is nothing mentioned about Lackey's taste and nutritional value but we do know that the trident fish is the tastiest!

Two new breeds of freshwater fish will soon be introduced onto the market. The Trident Flick fish is rich in vitamins and iron, and the tastiest fish available while the fattier Lackey is abundant and caught easily, making it the cheaper of the two. In a recent survey, consumers of poultry products rated nutritional value as the most important factor influencing their decision on which product to buy. It can be deduced that the sales figures for the Trident fish will be much higher than those for the Lackey.

Which of the following is an assumption underlying the conclusion?

Stmt 1 : Introduced two new fish breeds.
Stmt 2 : Describes features of both breeds. TF & L. Cost(TF>L) Abundace(L>TF)Taste(TF>L) TF has high nutrition value.
Stmt 3:Poultary survey's -> Consumers prefer Nutritional values over others.
Conc : Sales (TF > L)

Pre-Thinking:
1) To have more sales we need to have enough TF to cater the consumer demand.
2) Poultry survey should be valid in this instance.

A. Consumers approach the decision of which fish to buy in the same way that they approach the decision of which poultry product to buy.
Yeah, That's what I thought. We can even negate this and see whether it shatters conclusion or not.

B. Fish is generally more expensive than poultry since it has to be caught and is not usually industrially manufactured.
OFS, So what?? Here we are comparing 2 fish breeds, this statement won't impact.

C. A rise in the awareness of consumers about nutrition and proper diet has affected the sales of both poultry and fish.
ISWAT, Its a close choice. He it was mentioned affected?? Does it mean increase/decrease.

D. Consumers always consider nutritional value, taste, or both as factors that are more important than price.
OFS

E. When health is an integral part of a consumer's decision, the price may play a smaller role in affecting that decision.
OFS, We are not bothered about price.

Hence A is the right choice.

A. Consumers approach the decision of which fish to buy in the same way that they approach the decision of which poultry product to buy. Correct

linked between purchasing preference of poultry products and fishes, so the conclusion will be true

B. Fish is generally more expensive than poultry since it has to be caught and is not usually industrially manufactured. Incorrect

additional info, not helpful

C. A rise in the awareness of consumers about nutrition and proper diet has affected the sales of both poultry and fish. Incorrect

cant helpful why sales figures for the Trident fish will be much higher?

D. Consumers always consider nutritional value, taste, or both as factors that are more important than price. Incorrect

it support argument, but cant be an assumption

E. When health is an integral part of a consumer's decision, the price may play a smaller role in affecting that decision. Incorrect

support argument but cant be an assumption

A. Consumers approach the decision of which fish to buy in the same way that they approach the decision of which poultry product to buy. CORRECT. Refer Bunuel's explanation for same.

B. Fish is generally more expensive than poultry since it has to be caught and is not usually industrially manufactured.
Why Fish is generally more expensive-Irrelevant.

C. A rise in the awareness of consumers about nutrition and proper diet has affected the sales of both poultry and fish.
What affected Sales of both Poultry and Fish- Irrelevant

D. Consumers always consider nutritional value, taste, or both as factors that are more important than price.
"Always consider" Too extreme

E. When health is an integral part of a consumer's decision, the price may play a smaller role in affecting that decision.[/quote]
How important is price in decision making is irrelevant.
