Can someone explain why A is correct and not B or D?

This is really a hard question and options A and D are very close. Tough Call.

According to the question 25% of female IT professionals committed errors while coding while Only 5% of male IT professionals committed errors while coding. It also concludes that longer coding experience brings greater proficiency and hence male professionals are better at coding than females.

It is also assumed that the difference in errors is due to experience/proficiency, not due to something else (like males doing less coding work per person, so fewer chances to commit errors). If males did far less coding per person, then their lower error percentage might not mean they are more proficient, maybe they just have fewer opportunities to make errors.

Eliminate the answer choices.

A: This directly matches the needed assumption.

B: Talks about percentage of males vs. females in the company which is irrelevant to per capita coding work comparison. Hence Out.

C: Talks about new vs. experienced employees and not directly about the male–female comparison in the given data. Out.

D: This looks almost the same as A. Lets keep it.

Now between A and D, they are very close, but A is more precise and focued (“per capita coding work”). On the other hand D is a bit off-road. A is more clearer in its direction.

Answer: A
