007Aditi: B states that several athletes from Navatanya who won gold medals at the last Olympics will not compete at the next Olympics. But the stimulus never states that the athletes who have decided to become coaches were among those athletes who won gold medals. They could be among those athletes who won gold, or could be among those who won other medals (silver or bronze), or could be among those who did not win any medals at all.

Whereas E is completely supported by the last sentence of the passage.

several of the athletes who represented Navatanya at the last Olympics have decided to become coaches, and they will no longer compete at the international level.

Since several athletes have decided to become coaches and, as a result, they cannot compete at the international level, therefore the group of athletes who represented Navatanya at the last Olympics will not be the same group at the next Olympics.

E. The athletes that will represent Navatanya at the next Olympics will not be the same group of athletes who represented Navatanya at the last Olympics.

Why is B wrong?
Moreover isn't E including all the athletes that competed in the Olympics whereas in the premise it is saying several of the athletes so there could still be some that would compete next year as well?

The tiny nation of Navatanya won seven gold medals at the last Olympics. Most of the country’s top athletes come from impoverished rural areas where a career in sports is seen as a way to break the grip of poverty. However, the government of Navatanya considers athletes to be government employees, and it strictly limits their commercial activities. Because of this, several of the athletes who represented Navatanya at the last Olympics have decided to become coaches, and they will no longer compete at the international level.

If the statements above are true, which of the following must also be true?

A. It is unlikely that Navatanya will win at least seven gold medals at the next Olympics.

B. Several athletes from Navatanya who won gold medals at the last Olympics will not compete at the next Olympics

C. Some of the athletes from Navatanya who competed at the last Olympics will not be at the next Olympics.

D. No athletes from Navatanya who won gold medals at the last Olympics came from wealthy areas of the country.

E. The athletes that will represent Navatanya at the next Olympics will not be the same group of athletes who represented Navatanya at the last Olympics.

VERITAS PREP OFFICIAL SOLUTION:

Since several athletes who represented Navatanya at the last Olympics will no longer compete, they will not compete at the next Olympics. Therefore, the group that competes at the next Olympics will not be the same.

(A) The athletes from Navatanya might be just as likely or more likely to win in the next Olympics. There is no way to know.

(B) We cannot say for sure which athletes will not compete. It is possible that all the gold winners will return.

(C) The athletes who are no longer competing might still be in attendance at the next Olympics as coaches or spectators.

(D) Most of the top athletes in the country might come from poor areas, as the argument states, but there still might have been some gold winners who came from rich areas.
