BF 1 = Bottlemasters, Inc., produces a plastic stopper that cannot leak, crumble, or mold.
BF 2 = cork prices are expected to rise considerably in the near future.

conclusion= Therefore, the Bottlemasters plastic stopper will most probably increase its share of the market for wine-bottle stoppers.

both of BF actually support the conclusion. they are essentially the reason through which the conclusion has been drawn.

A. The first and the second each provide evidence to support the conclusion of the argument.
perfect. as i mentioned earlier, both the supports the conclusion. keep.

B. The first provides evidence to support the main conclusion of the argument; the second is that main conclusion.
second is not the main conclusion at all. reject.

C. The first provides evidence to support the main conclusion of the argument; the second is an objection that has been raised against that main conclusion.

second is not going against the main conclusion rather it supports it, reject.

D. The first and the second are each claims that have been advanced in support of a position that the argument opposes.

they both actually supports. this choice is in opposite direction. reject.

E. The first is evidence that has been used to support a position that the argument opposes; the second is a claim advanced in support of the main conclusion of the argument.

argument doesnt oppose the conclusion at all. and first doesnt give reason to support their opposition. reject.

Because the cork stoppers in wine bottles can leak, crumble, or become moldy, winemakers must often discard a significant proportion of their inventory of bottled wine. Bottlemasters, Inc., produces a plastic stopper that cannot leak, crumble, or mold. Bottlemasters’s plastic stopper is available to winemakers for a price only slightly higher than that of traditional cork stoppers, and cork prices are expected to rise considerably in the near future. Therefore, the Bottlemasters plastic stopper will most probably increase its share of the market for wine-bottle stoppers.

In the argument given, the two portions in boldface play which of the following roles?

A. The first and the second each provide evidence to support the conclusion of the argument.
B. The first provides evidence to support the main conclusion of the argument; the second is that main conclusion.
C. The first provides evidence to support the main conclusion of the argument; the second is an objection that has been raised against that main conclusion.
D. The first and the second are each claims that have been advanced in support of a position that the argument opposes.
E. The first is evidence that has been used to support a position that the argument opposes; the second is a claim advanced in support of the main conclusion of the argument.

The key first move in solving Boldface questions is to identify conclusions in the passage because everything else in the passage is somehow related to the conclusions.
