[D] for sure.
I do not think this qualifies as a 600-700 question, does it?

Steve traveled the first 2 hours of his journey at 40 mph and the remaining 3 hours of his journey at 80 mph. What is his average speed for the entire journey?

A. 60 mph
B. 56.67 mph
C. 53.33 mph
D. 64 mph
E. 66.67 mph

Steve’s total distance was 2 x 40 + 3 x 80 = 80 + 240 = 320 miles.

We can now determine average speed:

Average speed = (total distance)/(total time)

Average speed = 320/5 = 64 mph

Answer: D

Avg Speed = \(\frac{d_1 + d_2}{t_1 + t_2}\)

Or, Avg Speed = \(\frac{2*40 + 3*80}{2 + 3}\)

Or, Avg Speed = \(64\), Answer will be (D)

Average speed = Total distance covered / Total time taken

Total time = 2 + 3 =5 hours

Distance covered in first 2 hours = Speed * Time = 2 * 40 =80miles

Distance covered in remaining 3 hours of his journey at 80 mph= 3 * 80 = 240miles

Total distance travelled = 80 + 240 =320 miles

Thus Average Speed = 320/5 (Eliminate B,C,E as they are non integer values)

Since 60 *5 =300,eliminate A and the answer is 64mph.
