Let us suppose he had plucked x flowers initially.

Now temple 1

b4 entering he takes a bath in the pond so no of flowers = 2x

and let no of flowers offered is = y ( this has to be same in all the four cases )

So remaining = 2x-y

temple 2

after bath no of flowers = 2*(2x-y) = 4x-2y

as usual no of flowers offered = y

so remaining = 4x-3y

temple 3

after bath = 2*(4x-3y) = 8x-6y

after offering flowers remaining = 8x-7y

temple 4

after bath = 2*(8x-7y) = 16x-14y

after offering flowers = 16x-15y

But know that there are no more flowers left hence

16x = 15y

y = 16x/15

Hence the no of flowers offered need to be multiple of 16 since x and y have to be positive integers :)

The only multiple of 16 in the options was 48 :)

There are four temples, one plant of flower and a pond.

A boy goes there and before entering the first temple he plucks the flower and has to take a bath in the pond before entering into every temple.

The specialty of the pond is that if a person is carrying flowers with him and he takes a dip in the pond the number of the flowers gets doubled.

He takes a dip and offers some flowers in the first temple, then he again takes a dip and offers flowers in second temple , again the same in the third temple, and again the same in the fourth temple

The boy offers EQUAL number of flowers in all the four temples and goes back with EMPTY hand after offering flower in the fourth temple..How many flowers could he have offered in each temples?

Temple 4Temple 3Temple 2Temple 1

Before dipx/23x/47x/815x/16

We know after the last offering he had nothing left and offered the same number of flowers in all temples. Therefore, let's move backwards (from temple 4 to before temple 1 dip)

15x/16 is the initial number of flowers. Since this has to be an positive integer, x must be a factor of 16. Only 48 works
