 percent of the total amount that she spent, excluding taxes = 4.4/100 = 4.4%

total amount of taxex paid =  (\frac{50}{100}*\frac{4}{100}) + (\frac{30}{100}*\frac{8}{100})

\frac{(200+240)}{10^4}  =  \frac{440}{10^4}  = 4.4%

I got 4.4 as total tax but the last phrase "excluding taxes " doesn't mean we need to find tax/(100-4.4) . i assumed money spent = 100.

Bunuel  - Can you please explain , what excluding taxes means here .
