Notice that 25! = (25)(24!), so we can factor out 24! from top and bottom.

(25!+24!)/(25!-24!) = [24!(25+1)]/[24!(25-1)]
= (25+1)/(24-1)
= 26/24
≈ 1
Answer: E

Take 24! outside in both numerator and denominator. You can cancel out.
What you get is (25+1)/(25-1) = 26/24 = 13/12

Hi,
25! and 24! may seem close to each other.. but 25! is 25 times more than 24!..
so if you add 1/25th of an item to that item or subtract 1/25th of an item from itself, they will be close to each other ..
as the choice has only 1 and rest are >15, we can safely take answer as 1..

If we had choices like 1 , 1.2 , 1.5 , then it would be necessary to calculate..
Here ofcourse, it is easy calculations but we should be ready to read into the info a Q provides..

Which of the following is closer to (25!+24!)/(25!-24!)?

A. 49

-> (25!+24!)/(25!-24!)=(25*24!+24!)/(25*24!-24!)=(25+1)24!/(25-1)24!=26/24=13/12=approximately 1.
Thus, the answer is 1.

This answer is for the same exact question.

HOWEVER it is seen on the FE practice exams with a different set of answers. Numbers all the same but mind that the answers are different.

The solution is still ~= 1.
