Current area = pi * r^2 = 100 * pi --> r = 10

Radius is doubled --> r = 20. New area = 400 * pi

Answer: B


Shouldn't the total area of the 'RENOVATED' green not be equal to the green area added?? which means 4oopi - 100pi = 300pi

But thats not even an option..!! :(

No, the question asks for the total area. The question states that initially the area of the green was 100pi and later the radius was doubled. Moreover the question just mentions that the circular green was built. So we should assume that building the green was part of the renovation process.
