(A) 10x
(B) 9x
(C) 8x
(E) 6x
(E) 5x

Variables in the answer choices tell you to choose your own values! The phrase 'in terms of' is another clue that this will work.

Let's say x = 1.

Then y = 3 and z = 6.

x + y + z = 1 + 3 + 6 = 10.

Plug x into the answer choices to see which one equals 10. In this case it's A.
