Let the common ratio of animals be x..
Tigers = 8x+8 and lions =32x
So ratio = \(\frac{8x+8}{32x}=\frac{3}{4}......32x+32=96x.....x=1/2\)
Number of bobcats. = 24*1/2=12

Given:
- • The given table shows the percentage distribution of different types of animals in a zoo
• If 8 tigers were added, then the new ratio of lions to tigers would be 4: 3
To find:
- • The number of bobcats present in the zoo
Approach and Working:
Let us assume that total number of animals in the zoo is 100a.
- • Number of lions = 32a
• Number of tigers = 8a
If 8 more tigers are added, then number of tigers become 8a + 8.
As per the given question,
- • 32a: (8a + 8) = 4: 3
Or, \(\frac{4a}{a+1} = \frac{4}{3}\)
Or, 12a = 4a + 4
Or, 8a = 4
Or, a = 0.5
Therefore, number of bobcats = 24a = 24 x 0.5 = 12
Hence, the correct answer is option C.
