In the figure above, if PQ is parallel to OR, what is the area of quadrilateral PQRO?

(A) 9
(B) 14
(C) 18
(D) 36
(E) cannot be determined

Coordinates of R needs to be changed from (0,5) to (5,0) .

Another simple method would be to add the areas of triangles OQR and OPQ. You can find the dimensions of OPQ using 45-45-90 property.
