A recipe requires 13 ounces of sugar and 18 ounces of flour. If only 10 ounces of sugar are used, how much flour, to the nearest ounce, should be used?

(A) 13

(B) 14

(C) 15

(D) 23

(E) 24
IMO B
sugar:flour = 13:18 and only 10 ounces sugar is used than 13x=10
x=10/13 and flour is 18*10/13= 13.8= 14 approx
If you like my explanation please give me Kudos thanks in advance

The ratio of ounces of sugar to flour is
13:18 (given in statement)

So the same ratio to be maintained for the recipe to work
Therefore,
Let the ounce of flour be X
13:18 = 10:X
X= 180/13
= 13.8

Approx 14

Ans is B

Without much calculation we can solve this problem

13:18 , which is nothing but 1:1.4

So flour used should be 140% of sugar. Now if 10 ounce of sugar is used, we need 14 ounce of flour (140% of 10 ounce)

Ans: B
