What is √54×√24?

A. 36
B. 38
C. 42
D. 44
E. 46

I'd use the same approach as varun4s used.
However, this alternative approach is not without its merits :-)

RULE: (√a)(√b) = √(ab)
So, √54×√24 = √(54×24)
=√1296

Notice that √1600 = 40, so √1296 must be less than 40
ELIMINATE C, D and E

Also, notice that 38² = ???4, BUT the units digit of 1296 is 6
ELIMINATE B

Answer: A

tHIS IS HOW I SOLVED

sO √54×√24? = (√ 54*24 )

now factorise 54 and 24 to get

54 = 2*3*3*3
24 = 2*2*2*3

Together (√ 2*3*3*3*2*2*2*3 )
Cancel pairs to get rid of root ans = 2*2*3*3 = 36 ans A

Approach and Working out
    • √54×√24
    • = √(2 × 3 × 3 × 3) × √(2 × 2 × 2 × 3)
    • = √(2 × 3 × 3 × 3 × 2 × 2 × 2 × 3)
    • =2 × 2 × 3 × 3
    • = 36
Thus, option A is the correct answer.
