The formula for area of a rectangular box is A = 2(wl+hl+hw). w=width, l =length, h=height . Assume w = 2, l = 3 and h = 4 in the above question.
A = 2(2*3 + 4*3 + 4*2) = 2(6 +12 + 8) =2 (26) = 52 . Therefore answer is option E .

Solution:
Recall that the surface area of a box with dimensions L, W, and H is:
2LW + 2LH + 2WH
Therefore, the surface area of this box is:
2(2)(3) + 2(2)(4) + 2(3)(4) = 12 + 16 + 24 = 52 sq. ft.
Answer: E
