Let distance between A and B be 50
So round trip=100
Stops at 1/10 of distance means 5
Already covered 50 from A to B and then 5 from B to A

Total distance=55 out of 100

In driving a round trip from City A to City B, a motorist drives to City B and, on the way back to City A, by the same route, stops at a service station at a location that is 10 percent of the distance to City A from City B. When the motorist stops at the service station, what percent of the round trip is completed?

(A) 40%
(B) 45%
(C) 55%
(D) 60%
(E) 65%

Distance from A to B = D (say)

Distance from B to A = D (as per question A to B = B to A)

Total distance that must be travelled = 2D

But actual distance travelled = D + 0.10D = 1.1 D

Percentage =\(\frac{1.1D}{2D}\) \(* 100\) = \(55\)\(%\)
