If 20 percent of x is 5y, and y = 7, what is 60 percent of x?

A. 105
B. 115
C. 125
D. 145
E. 175

Since 20 percent of x is 5y and y = 7, we have:

0.2x = 5(7)

0.2x = 35

x = 175

So 60% of 175 is 0.6 x 175 = 105.

A. 105
B. 115
C. 125
D. 145
E. 175

\(20\) % = \(\frac{1}{5}\)

So, \(\frac{x}{5} = 5*7\)

Or, \(x = 25*7\)

So, 60 % of x = 105, Answer must be (A)

A. 105
B. 115
C. 125
D. 145
E. 175

GIVEN: 20 percent of x = 5y
This means: 40 percent of x = 10y
And: 60 percent of x = 15y

Since y = 7, we can write: 60 percent of x = 15(7) = 105
