If powdered drink mix costs c cents per ounce and p pounds of it are purchased by a supplier who intends to resell it, what will be the total revenue, in dollars, in terms of c and p if all of the drink mix is sold at a price per ounce equivalent to three times what the supplier paid? (16 ounces = 1 pound and 100 cents = 1 dollar)

(A) \(48cp\)

(B) \(\frac{32cp}{100}\)

(C) \(\frac{3200}{cp}\)

(D) \(\frac{12cp}{25}\)

(E) \(\frac{25cp}{12}\)

1 cent = \(\frac{1}{100}\) dollars
1 ounce =\(\frac{1}{16}\) pounds

\(\frac{c \ \ cents}{1 \ \ ounce} = \frac{c *\frac{1}{100} dollars }{\frac{1}{16} pound} = \frac{4c}{25}\) \(\frac{dollars}{pound}\)

cost per unit \(\frac{4c}{25}\)

Total number of pounds sold = p

Total revenenu 3 * \(\frac{4cp}{25}\) = \(\frac{12cp}{25}\)

(C) \(\frac{100(32)}{cp}\)

(D) \(\frac{12cp}{25}\)

(E) \(\frac{25cp}{12}\)

Let's say you bought p pounds at c cents per ounce.
That gives us 16pc ( value in terms of cents).

Now sold it at 3 times. 3*16pc

Now divide it by hundred to convert into $.
=48pc/100.
=12pc/25
= Option D.

C cent \( =\frac{C}{100}\) Dollar, This is the cost for 1 Ounce, Cost of 1 Pound \(=\frac{C}{100}*16=\frac{4}{25}*C\), Cost of P pund \(=\frac{4CP}{25}\)

So, The cost Price or Price paid to Supplier\( =\frac{4CP}{25 }\)

Three times of the Supplier price \(=\frac{3*4CP}{25}=\frac{12CP}{25}\)

The answer is \(D\)
