Usually question mention countertop is a square or rectangle , but in this question nothing is mentioned about the countertop .

Does " A countertop of uniform width " means it is a Square countertop ?

Hii

Since, it is given that width is constant, it is a rectangle. It might be a square (a special form of rectangle) but we have to consider a general case.
Always consider more general case unless specified.
I Hope it clears your doubt.
