James and Sara are traveling on a highway from town A to town B. James is behind Sara and traveling at a constant rate of 72 miles per hour while Sara is traveling at a rate of 48 miles per hour. If James passes Sara on the road at 12:30 p.m and pulls over to wait for Sara at 1.15 p.m. How many minutes will James have to wait before Sara will catch up to him?

So they both meet at 12:30 and keep moving till 01:15, which makes it 45 minutes..
Now James can take a lead of (72-48) or 24 miles in 1 hour, so in 45 minutes, J is ahead by 24*3/4=18 miles..
Now we have to see how much time Sara takes to cover this 18 miles..
Sara travels 48 miles in 60 min, so 1 mile in 60/48 or 5/4 minutes..
Therefore, she will travel 18 miles in 18*5/4=45/2=22.5 minutes..

In 45 min, distance James travelled = 72*(3/4)
= 54miles
In the same time, distance Sara travelled = 48*(3/4)
= 36miles
Now, James has to wait until Sara covers the remaining distance i.e., = 54-36=18miles
Time taken by Sara= (18/48)*60
=22.5min
Answer=C
