A new car was sold with new brake linings that were each 0.250 inch thick. After the car had been driven 50,000 miles without replacing any brake linings, the thinnest brake lining was 0.085 inch thick. What was the percent decrease in the thickness of the thinnest brake lining?

A. 34%
B. 52%
C. 66%
D. 74%
E. 94%

% change : ( .085-.250)/(.250)= option C 66% decrease

0.85 is approximately three times of 0.25
So, the thickness reduced to 1/3rd of the original thickness which means reduced of around 66%.
