Let length of rectangle B be L and width be H
So, for rectangle A, length=L/2 and width= H/2

So, area of A/area of B=(L/2*H/2)/L*H=1/4

If the length of rectangle A is one–half the length of rectangle B, and the width of rectangle A is one–half the width of rectangle B, what is the ratio of the area of rectangle A to the area of rectangle B?

A. 1/4

B. 1/2

C. 1/1

D. 2/1

E. 4/1

Let rectangle A be a 2x2 rectangle. Let rectangle B be a 4x4 rectangle. Then area A=4 and Area B =16, so Area A/Area B = 4/16 =1/4 A.
