Last place can be selected in 2 ways.
now the other 4 can be selected in 4! ways.
Total possible ways = 4!*2=48

wanted to understand why you have multiplied by 2 ; the question has specified that 2 songs have to be in last so wont we get the sequence in 4! ways?

u1983 the idea is to choose the last song first so we would have 2 choices and the 1st to 4th songs would have choice 4,3,2,1. Hence the calculation 4!*2

Hello Archit3110 ..... below is my take.

The Q says : Boone is making a playlist of 5 songs, but only 2 are suitable to be last.

So the last spot can be taken by any of those 2 songs. This implies the last position can be taken up in 2 ways.
Once the last place is defined/selected, we remain with 4 places and 4 songs.
Now those 4 songs can be arranged in 4 places in 4! ways (as order does matter here ).
Hence the total ways = 4!*2=48

Hope this helps!!
