Why am I completely off base here? The shortest possible distance between two points is a straight line. AB would form the hypotenuse of a triangle (and this hypotenuse is the shortest possible distance) --> c = rad146

I calculated the area of a triangle for each trip.

AC = (8x2) / 2 =8
CB = (3x3) / 2=4.5

8 + 4.5 =12.5
12.5x100 =1,250

Not sure if this was the correct way, but it ended up being the right answer.
