Can someone tell me how the equation comes out for the above question? What I did -
x= No of bacteria on day one
1.5x= No of bacteria on day two

Adding them together x + 1.5x = 4725

But this seems wrong.

Please Help!!! Bunuel

I'm getting 1350.

Tom will cultivate bacteria. The number of bacteria he will cultivate after one day is 150 percent of that of the previous day. The total number of bacteria is 4,725 after 2 days. What is the value of the original number of bacteria on the first day?

A. 1,200 B. 1,500 C. 1,600 D. 1,800 E. 2,100

Initially = x
Total After day 1= x + 1.5x = 2.5x
Total After day 2= 1.5(2.5x) = 3.375x

So 3.375x = 4725
—> x = 1400

After first day = 1.5x = 2100

If the right answer is E and the value of the original number of bacteria on the first day is 2100, that means that a number of bacterias on the 2nd day is 2100*1,5+2100=5250, but not 4725.
Can somebody explain this?

The way I see it:
x - bacterias on day 0
x+1,5x - bacterias on day 1
(x+1,5x)*1,5 = 4725 - bacterias on day 2

so let's find x

1,5x+2,25x=4725
3,75x=4725
x=1260 - this is on day 0, but we need on day 1, so
1260+1,5*1260=3150

Where am I wrong?

Thank you for help
