Tom will cultivate bacteria. The number of bacteria he will cultivate after one day is 150 percent of that of the previous day. The total number of bacteria is 4,725 after 2 days. What is the value of the original number of bacteria on the first day?

Each day he will cultivate 150% of the number of the previous day.
So say he has x bacteria on 24th May, 12 midnight.
He will have (150/100)x bacteria on 25th May, 12 midnight.
And (150/100*(150/100)x bacteria on 26th may, 12 midnight.
So after two days, he has (150/100)*(150/100)x = 4725 bacteria
x = 2100
So original number of bacteria (beginning of the day) on the first day = 2100

Can someone tell me how the equation comes out for the above question? What I did -
x= No of bacteria on day one
1.5x= No of bacteria on day two
Adding them together x + 1.5x = 4725
But this seems wrong.
