Solution

To find:
    • The probability that a number randomly picked from the range 1 through 1000 is divisible by both 7 and 10

Approach and Working Out:
    • The probability that a number randomly picked from the range 1 through 1000 is divisible by both 7 and 10 = the probability that it is divisible by 70 = (number of multiples of 70 from 1 to 1000)/1000 = \(\frac{14}{1000} = \frac{7}{500}\)

What is the probability that a number randomly picked from the range 1 through 1000 is divisible by both 7 and 10

For a no to be divisible by both 7 and 10, a no has to be divisible by 70
From 1 to 1000, we have 14 multipliers of 70

So probability = 14/1000=7/500

Hence C
