I think answer should be B as n-m=0 gives you n=m but in that case given statement m/n= 3/8 doesn't sustain.
Therefore, answer is B.

Hi Bunuel, I think the answer should be B indeed. I skipped the putting values back into the equation part.

answer is D.
m=3x, n= 8x, using x= -5, n-m gives -25. But 12 and 0 is not achievable.

The answer should be D.

If we take m/n=3x/8x than m-n=5x.

We can take any integer in place of x, which can not give 12.

Between 0 and -25, we can not get 0 as If we take X=0 than m/n=0/0 that is undefine.

Lanline and Niha01, the question does not mention integers anywhere.

n=96/5 and m=36/5, satisfies the condition for n-m=12. The answer should be B. We inherently jump to integers as soon as we see a well simplified ratio. Hope this helps! :)

I think the difference can be anything except 0 because we dont have any integer constraints.

3n = 8m

n - m = 596,74

works as well as

n - m = -10000

m/n = 3/8

m = 3x
n = 8x

n - m = 5x

x cannot be 0

All other values can be met as it is not mentioned that m and n need to be integers

Answer B

If... n - m = - 25 ..... then... m = n + 25 ...... then only if n is negative....then ... m / n = 3 / 8 ......
Like dis..... n = - 40 .... so.... m = - 40 + 25 = - 15 .... so ... m / n = [ - 15 ] / [ - 40 ] = 3 / 8 ......

If... n - m = 0 .... then ... m = n .... so there is no way ... m / n = 3 / 8 ... it'll always be... m / n = 1 ≠ 3 / 8 .......

If...n - m = 12 ... then... n = m + 12 .....so if... m = 7.2 = [ 12 / 5 ] × 3 ..... then.... n = 19.2 = [ 12 / 5 ] × 8 ......
So..... m / n = [ [ 12 / 5 ] × 3 ] / [ [ 12 / 5 ] × 8 ] = 3 / 8 .......

So....only || cant be.....

! nah id win!
