Method: Using efficiency
Michael's rate of work be \(x\), and David's be \(\dfrac{2}{3}x \). Therefore, working together their rate of work is, \(x + \dfrac{2}{3}(x) = \dfrac{5}{3}(x)\)
They completed a job in \(4\) d \(19\) h and \(12\) m, converting in hours, i.e., \(4\)d = \(96\)h, \(12\) min \(= \dfrac{12}{60}\) h. Time \(= 96+19 + 0.2 = 115.2\) h.
So, \(\dfrac{1}{\left(\dfrac{5}{3}\right) \cdot x} = 115.2 \Longrightarrow x = \dfrac{1}{192}\) h.
Thus Michael alone takes, \(\dfrac{1}{m} = 192 h = \dfrac{192}{24} = 8\) d

Bunuel just wanted to understand why this question is categorised as 805+ is it due to the time spent converting days to hours and minutes or is this generally how difficult a work and time question can get on the GMAT?
